How to Use the LIVE Yacht Valuation Tool

A practical guide to obtaining and interpreting an indicative yacht market range.

Gold+ feature: The LIVE Yacht Valuation Tool is available to eligible Gold and higher member accounts. Sign in with the qualifying account before opening it from the Control menu.

Before you begin

The tool researches public market information and comparable listings. It provides an indicative range, not a formal valuation, survey, appraisal, insurance value or offer to purchase. Asking prices may differ from achieved sale prices.

Two ways to start

Paste a listing URL

Use a publicly accessible boat or yacht listing page. The page must be viewable without a private login and should identify the vessel clearly.

Enter details manually

Use this when no suitable public listing exists or when you want to value a vessel from its specification.

Step by step

  1. Open LIVE - Yacht Valuation Tool from the member Control menu.
  2. Choose the listing URL or manual-details tab.
  3. For a URL, paste the complete public address. For manual entry, provide make, model, year, length, vessel type, location, condition and any major refit information.
  4. Select the result currency and check all details before submitting.
  5. Choose Estimate Market Value. Live research can take a little time; do not repeatedly submit the same vessel while it is processing.
  6. Review the identified vessel, comparable listings, assumptions and indicative range together. A range based on weak or limited comparables should be treated with extra caution.

Improving the result

  • Use the exact builder and model designation.
  • Give the true build year and distinguish it from a later refit year.
  • Use a consistent length unit and include model variants where known.
  • Describe significant refits, engine hours, VAT status and condition without exaggeration.
  • For unusual or highly customised yachts, expect fewer close comparables.

Understanding the result

The range is an informed market indication based on the information supplied and the comparable material available at that moment. Location, tax status, maintenance history, equipment, urgency, season and negotiated terms can all affect the eventual transaction value.

Troubleshooting

The tool says I do not have access

Confirm that you are signed in and that your Gold+ membership is active on this site. A qualifying account on another site may not automatically grant access here.

The listing cannot be read

The source may block automated access, require a login or load its details dynamically. Switch to manual entry and provide the specification directly.

The result is incomplete or unreadable

Check the supplied details and try once more after a short pause. If it persists, report the time, page address and vessel details through the site contact page; do not send your password or API information.

Can I use this for a sale contract, finance or insurance?

Not by itself. Obtain an appropriate professional valuation, survey and legal or financial advice for any decision requiring formal evidence.
